Kerstin Blodig is regarded as one of the most important interpreters of Scandinavian and Celtic world-music. She studied musicology, Scandinavian languages and cultures, with particular emphasis on Norwegian folk music. Today she tours all over the world - including major festivals, studio recordings, theatre productions and regular TV appearances - with a wide variety of different projects, including the folk-pop band Talking Water. She cultivates her Norwegian roots in her solo performances and in the duo Kelpie with the fingerstyle virtuoso Ian Melrose. Her debut solo CD Valivann won the renowned German Critics Prize. After the success of her 2nd solo album: Trollsang, she has just released her third solo album Nordisk Sjel. Being one of the finest women guitarists in the acoustic scene today, she is official endorser of Gibson Guitars.
Thomas Loefke learnt his trade in Dublin from Ireland's leading harp players - Máire Ní Cháthasaigh, Helen Davies and Áine Ní Dhúill. Since 1984 he has been playing professionally and has won several international prizes, including first prize at the O'Carolan Harp Festival in Keadue. In 1992 he recorded his first album: New Music for Celtic Harp. The 2nd album Norland Wind followed 1996, released by the Irish top class label Celtic Heartbeat. Today, much of his time is spent composing, collaborating and recording. Besides his work with Norland Wind, he also tours with Riverdance violinist Máire Breatnach, US-Duo Acoustic Eidolon, pianist Lutz Gerlach and as a soloist. His latest CD: Departures.
Ian Melrose from Ayr in the Southwest of Scotland, belongs to the cream of Europe’s acoustic guitarists. He is an internationally acclaimed composer, arranger and studio musician, and was lead guitarist with CLANNAD (1996 world tour, grammy-winning CD “Landmarks”). He currently cultivates his Celtic roots in his projects Kelpie (Scandinavian-Celtic mix) with Kerstin Blodig, and in the pan-Celtic guitar trio Celtic Guitar Journeys (with Dylan Fowler and Soïg Siberìl). Folk, jazz and classical tones are mixed in the Leuchter-Melrose Duo (World Accordion meets Fingerstyle Guitar), and the diversity of the guitar is celebrated in trio Guitar Celebration, alongside Nikos Tsiachris (flamenco) and Rüdiger Krause (jazz).
